"Unrecognizable Recognizables" - Halifax
Lomography hits the east coast!
October 4, 2004 7 p.m. @ Economy Shoe Shop 1663 Argyle - Halifax
Five creative minds will try their shooting skills on five different Lomographic cameras for the first time. They will be using the SuperSampler, Pop 9, Holga, ColorSplash and ActionSampler. The theme is "Unrecognizable Recognizables." The point is to find people places and things in and around Halifax that are common and shoot them in a new light. Each photographer will take their own slant on the theme. The Lomographers:Scott Munn is a freelance photographer who dominates the covers of The Coast, Halifax's weekly paper. Laura Graham is a reporter for CBC radio and a freelance photographer. Scott Simpson is a feature film-maker. Chris Smith is a graphic designer and freelance photographer and Megan Wennberg is a freelance writer and photographer. Both have been nominated for East Coast Music awards for their live and set shots of bands. There will be an exhibition of their best work at the Economy Shoe Shop Café and Bar on Argyle Street in Halifax.
The Shoe Shop is called "the trendiest spot in town" by Fodors and it's owned by a former set designer who always has a rotation of interesting art.The exhibition will open on October 4th with the photographers there to talk about their work and show off their new cameras.
If you are a closet east coast Lomographer, it's time to come out. Send your Lomo photos on this theme to 1546 Barrington Street, Apt 605, Halifax, NS B3J 3X7 for a Lomo wall at the show. Contact Laura at (902) 444-5021 for more information.
